This project of mine, which was started as a simple research about my ancestors some years ago, and later about my wife's ancestors, has grown larger and larger during the time. Now it is a full genealogical tree of the entire Mondolfo town and Valle di Cadore town (at the moment there are 47337 individuals in the tree). Each inhabitant can easily find his ancestors, see if his family has really its origins in the town, and check out his possible bonds with other families.
This project has been developed and carried out thanks to the help and support of many people, mainly priests, who let me look up their parish registers. I would like to particularly thank two of them among the others, Don Mauro Baldetti, priest of the Mondolfo parish and Don Virginio De Martin, priest of the Valle di Cadore parish. Without their incredible help and utmost courtesy I couldn't have done anything. I also have to thank the registry office clerks of Fano and Mondolfo. Last, but not least, I must thank my son Massimiliano, who managed all the software section of this project with outstanding skill and patience: without his care this work could't be seen on the internet.

I dedicate this research to the memory of my parents, my grandparents and of all those who have preceded us and by whom we have inherited not only the baldness or the colour of our eyes but the whole genetic mosaic which makes everyone of us an unique and not repeatable human being.
During this long research, I’ve alternated moments of enthusiasm to moments of discouragement, due to the difficulties I’ve often found in the very hard reconstruction of the genealogical thread and, above all, while reading the certificates of baptism, wedding or death dating many centuries ago, I’ve been caught by such a strange, sudden commotion, as if I was almost not only contemporary of my ancestors, but quite sharing in their feelings too. The publication of these data on the Internet is a sort of a way of making may ancestors live again.

A note for those who enter my internet site.

In compliance with the current Italian laws concerning privacy, I was not allowed to look up town and parish registers related to the last 70 years. Thus, records concerning recent times have been purposely left out. I do not claim my research is either exhaustive or free of errors. Therefore, I kindly invite everybody to cooperate and provide information related to himself, his parents and ancestors. And, please let me know any error I may inadvertently have made: I will surely fix it. Sometimes, slightly different names for the same family have been recorded by the parish priests that have been in charge of a parish during the centuries. For instance, Giovannetti or Giovanetti, Tomassoni or Tommasoni, Gasperoni or Gasparoni, Fratini or Frattini. I have extensively used the nowadays most common way of writing their names. So, if you don't find your family name listed in my internet site, please look up the individual list and click on your initial. Kindly bear in mind that my internet site is being regularly updated. Hence, you may want to check it out from time to time: perhaps you'll find something new that's very interesting for you.
